An hilarious comedy, starring James Coburn as the unforgettable Lieutenant Christian. In the picturesque Sicilian village of Valerno during World War II, a company of American soldiers attempt to seize the village and capture the Italian solders defending it. The Italians are willing to surrender, provided they may hold their traditional wine festival in the village first. Captain Cash, a military fanatic who goes strictly by the book, is constantly in conflict with his subordinate, Lieutenant Christian, an easygoing hustler who would rather have a good time. When Cash insists that the Italian march away as prisoners, the Italian commander, Captain Oppo, refuses. The war is on again, and Lieutenant Christian must resolve the problems in order for the show to go on! - Actors:

An old classic - What Did You Do in the War Daddy review by JD
I first saw this in the cinema in 1966 and remember it well.
A cross between Kelly’s Hero’s and Allo Allo, years before we were exposed to the Allo Allo humour of a “funny” war film.
It is VERY funny, in a silly way, but brilliantly done .
No better way to spend an evening watching this movie and having a good , unsophisticated laugh.
