Set in the 48 hours leading up to the catastrophic Battle of the Somme, this is the intense story of young men at war as seen through the eyes of 17-year old Billy Macfarlane (Paul Nicholls).
As the boys wait for the attack, alternately excited and terrified, this group of naive soldiers is forced to confront the reality of the enemy as the suspense reaches breaking point.
When Billy`s platoon is ordered to go with the first wave of attackers, the awful truth of what they`re about to undergo begins to impact. And as the whistles blow, the boys clamber over the top to face their individual destinies.

Human story in an inhuman environment
The film tells the story of the days leading up to one of the worst battle of WW1. This isn't a war movie with bloody fights - the film ends when the battle commences, but about the very young soldiers waiting in the trench - their fears or eagerness or even the knowledge that they may not survive the gruesome combat. A lot of well known young actors in one of their first movies.
