Rent I Witness (2003)

Human rights investigator James Rhodes (Jeff Daniels) is supervising union elections at a US owned factory in Mexico when two seemingly random events take place - a couple of American kids on a dirt-bike-riding expedition disappear and 27 gunshot riddled corpses are found in a collapsed tunnel near Tijuana. Everyone from homicide detective Claudio Castillo (Clifton Collins Jnr) to State Department liason Doug Draper (James Spader) seem interested in both events, but only Rhodes sees a connection between the two. Navigating a maze of dark and dirty secrets, Rhodes starts to assemble evidence of a massive conspiracy involving drug dealers, the police, the factory and elements of the US government. Evidence that includes an eye-witness - Rhodes himself! That's if he can keep himself alive long enough to tell his story...
