Rent Mozart: Don Giovanni: Prague National Theatre (1991)

Mozart wrote his opera "Don Giovanni" on behalf of the city of Prague and he himself also conducted the first night on October 29, 1787. Another premier followed in the year 1971: the opera "Titus", conducted by Mozart as well. The Prague National Theatre (the former "standetheater") is therefore the only existing theatre in which Mozart himself conducted two premiers. Between 1983 and 1991 the theatre was carefully restored with regards to its original look. On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Mozart's death and in the presence of Czech President Vaclay Haval, the first night of 'Don Giovanni', conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras, was held in the newly restored building.
