Mission Failure due to malfunction of sci-fi / love-interest fusion. - Defying Gravity: Series review by RunDeckardRun

I can imagine the pitch for this series: "This show is gonna be Grey's Anatomy meets the George Clooney film Solaris!". For me it just doesn't work and I gave up after struggling through the first three episodes. The sci-fi element hinted at something Solaris-like but it wasn't a strong enough pull to keep me interested in the slightly irritating dialogue and artificial, forced romantic backstories. Also, for a story that's meant to be set in the year 2052 (somewhat unconvincingly for the most part), the strip joint scene in episode 3 was a serious error of judgement.
