Bobby, an aboriginie, has a real knack for picking winners. However, he isn't able to enjoy the spoils much - as he's been dead for a century or two - and all that's left of him, is his head in a jar! Set in Ireland, this is the comic tale of Brendan Delaney (Robie Coltrane), a campus janitor and semi-reformed gambling addict who's already burned a hole through the college fund in his quest to send his daughter to medical college. A big score at the Grand National should secure their fortune, but Brendan must protect 'Bobby' from an Australian civil servant who wants to repatriate him, and from a hapless posse of gangsters who want to get in on the action.

I like Robbie Coltane, I really like Robbie Coltrane but even he can't save this poor script. With it's slow pace, ridiculous plot (a severed head predicts the next horse to win a particular race) and pretty dull supporting cast there isn't really too much to like about this. Dan Ackroyd is midly amusing in his role but he's certainly far, far from his best. Not complete rubbish then but not far off.
