Hotel for Dogs is a poor relation to Beverley Hills Chihuahua. Without voices the dogs lack character and the film itself tries to be more of a teenage commentary on love, foster parents and friendship. The dogs should be the stars here but they are used as a tool for other stories. The Nickelodeon influence is very apparent where no risks are taken and it feels like a television movie.
