If you enjoy movies filled with singing rabbits, exploding spaceships, or cheerleaders, then this movie probably is not for you.
This movie is extremely alarming, an expression which here means "a thrilling misadventure involving three ingenious orphans and a villainous actor name s Count Olaf (Jim Carrey) who wants their enormous fortune." It includes a suspicious fire, delicious pasta, Jim Carrey, poorly behaved leeches, Billy Connolly, an incredibly deadly viper, Meryl Streep, and the voice of an imposter named Jude Law.

Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events review by Geek Pie
An unfortunate film.

This is one of the most disappointing films that I have seen in a long while. Although there were some good supporting performers and some stunning sets, the script is weak, you never get a chance to know or care for the children, and Jim Carrey as 'Count Olaf' is just not intimidating as a villain. Overall, the whole film seemed to be lacking in substance, depth, and character development.
