Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny re-team to unravel a bizarre case right out of The X-Files. Amidst an eerily deceptive calm, FBI agent Monica Bannan is abducted. Not only does the search for the missing woman ignite sparks between partners Scully (Anderson) and Mulder (Duchovny), it defies the boundaries of science, the supernatural and the terrifying spaces in between!

Without the X-Files prefix this would be an average, generic entry in the 'track down the killer' genre. Even then we're denied any logical explanation for why the things conclude as they do. There are brief moments of decency and these tend to centre on when Mulder and Scully are together on screen, although their loving relationship feels out of place. Scully's side-story regarding an ill child takes up too much of the film, especially one that is meant to be in the X-File universe.
Far from being a bad film, it just lacks the edge or phenomenon that we expect from this franchise, ultimately it feels like a television movie that's not fit for purpose.
