Synopsis:
Set in 1965, 'Apartment 7A' tells the story prior to the legendary horror classic 'Rosemary's Baby', exploring what happened in the infamous Bramford building before Rosemary moved in. An ambitious young dancer (Julia Garner) dreams of fame and fortune in New York City, but after suffering a devastating injury, an older, wealthy couple (Dianne Wiest and Kevin McNally) welcomes her into their home in a luxury apartment building. After an evening she can't fully remember, disturbing circumstances soon have her second-guessing the sacrifices she's willing to make for her career as she realises that something evil is living in Apartment 7A.

Rosemary should have watched the film. - Apartment 7A review by RP

A sort of prequel to the classic film 'Rosemary's Baby. I wasn't going to add it to my list until I saw the cast list. So with low expectations I ended up rather enjoying It. You don't need to know anything about 'Rosemary's Baby' and the story still stands up on its own merits. A young ambitious dancer has an accident and her ambition to succeed is used by a kindly elderly couple for their own suspicious reasons.

The acting is enjoyable and the atmosphere of the time fairly well presented. Julia Garner as the dancer is as always good value and throws herself into the part with gusto. Her slow realisation and fear of what is happening to her is not overly done and her feeling of being trapped well presented. Dianne Wiest and Kevin McNally are good value as the elderly couple.

A nice surprise of a film that is worth a watch.
