Family classic
- Ghostbusters review by CP Customer
One of those films from my childhood that still provokes fond memories. Ghostbusters remains a funny, thrilling romp through New York's supernatural wildlife. Having bought this blu ray on release the amount of grain is very surprising, the film does look good overall but I still think more could have been done to the print. Alot of the extras relate to the video game but amongst the menus are some vintage insights into the making of and a good commentary track.

Absolutely dire
- Ghostbusters review by LA
This has miserably failed the test of time. Zero plot even by the standards of the genre at the time and extremely uncomfortable to watch the Bill Murray character’s sexual predation and harassment of the leading female.
Wouldn’t and couldn’t be made now and we should all be grateful for that.

Cross the Streams, Save the Day
- Ghostbusters review by griggs
Some films ask what happens when we die. This one asks who we’re gonna call when the dead get sassy and start sliming hotel staff. It’s the perfect blend of spooks and snark, where world-ending threats are met not with bravery but with weary sarcasm and nuclear-powered vacuum cleaners strapped to the back.
Bill Murray coasts on pure deadpan charm, turning ghostbusting into a blue-collar side hustle. Aykroyd and Ramis give it brains and geekery, and Ernie Hudson walks in halfway through, mutters no more than half a dozen words, yet somehow grounds the whole thing. The effects are delightfully ropey, the plot barely holds together—and it doesn’t matter one bit.
The real trick is how it treats the supernatural with total sincerity, while mocking everything else: academia, bureaucracy, city government, and the absurdity of grown men chasing ghosts in boiler suits.
It shouldn’t work. It really shouldn’t. But it’s sharp, silly, and still funny decades later. Just don’t cross the streams.

80s Classic - The Best And First.
- Ghostbusters review by GI
The original and still the best even after all these years the jokes still feel fresh and of course it's a total riot. The ad libbed script is brilliant and the cast are clearly having a great time especially Bill Murray who just seems to be doing whatever he wanted. The attempts to reboot the franchise have had mixed results and with those modern films it's so easy for audiences to forget this 80s classic. Three slightly barmy scientists are kicked out of their University for dabbling in paranormal research and set themselves up as a company who will sort out anyone's ghost problems. They get a call from a beautiful girl who seems to have a strange portal opened up in her refrigerator. Dank Ackroyd, Harold Ramis and Murray are a dream team and work perfectly in tune with one another. The ghost effects are funny and Sigourney Weaver as the damsel in distress goes from dowdy to ravishing allowing Murray to really push his one liners. A famous 80s film that is sadly pushed aside by an attempt at remaking/rebooting when really young audiences should be watching this classic.

true legends never die.
- Ghostbusters review by JD
There are very, very few films that can claim to be better today than they were the day they were launched.
The only flaws i have for this film is some of the special effects - some are ok, but most look bad even for the 80's and the film is perhaps a bit to sharp and trim. Its a brilliant film and i wouldnt of minded a little more runtime.
On this disc you only need to slot it into your machine to be witness of this films greatness. There is no noisy menu running through bits of the film. Just the logo and the timeless theme song. Its special and not a frame of film has yet rolled.
The cast are brilliant, as youd expect from the names in this. Even the supporting characters are excellent.
So back to my first statement, how can a film be better 30 years on? gb2016 has that honour. It showed us all how under appreciated fantastic films like this were. By failing so miserably to re-invent ghostbusters it forced home how how good the original was.
I might not of given this 5 stars (that honour is saved for the likes of Carpenter or Cameron) but it is a fantastic film that that my Son, girlfriend and myself all thoroughly enjoyed.
