Synopsis:
A classic slice of sixties cinema from acclaimed director Stanley Kramer, the creative genius behind such taboo breaking, socially conscious dramas as The Defi ant Ones, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner and Judgement At Nuremberg. Kramer was also responsible for the ultimate screwball comedy It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. Based upon the best selling cult novel written by Robert Crichton, The Secret of Santa Vittoria stars screen legend Anthony Quinn as the unforgettable Italo Bombolini. The Second World War is coming to an end and the residents of a small Italian village named Santa Vittoria are more than relieved at the fall of Mussolini.
That is until a troop of ruthless Nazis march into town intent on exploiting Vittoria’s wine trade. Meanwhile, after a drunken act of rebellion, local mischief-maker and alcoholic Bombolini is suddenly mistaken for the town’s leader and elected to be Mayor. Bambolini must now use his desperate cunning to defeat evil Nazis, save his beloved town and keep hidden The Secret of Santa Vittoria.
