Thought provoking plausible ghost story. - Waking the Dead review by Timetravel

Spoiler Alert

Please note. This is a film that continually cuts back and forth beween the 1980s and the early 1970s. If you dislike the extended use of flashback then this movie is probably not for you.

It's a ghost story but nothing inplausible happens. The main character played by Billy Cudrup is in the process of fulfiling his life's political ambitions. Jennifer Connelly (just before her Beautiful Mind breakthrough) plays the part of his dead lover Sarah, whose passionate idealism contrasts with the life of compromise that Cudrup's character has followed to pursue his aspirations. As election day looms he starts to have visions of Sarah 's ghost .

And that is basically the plot. There's not much in the way of action but the film works as a mood piece. It may well make you consider your own choices, depending on where you are in life and what you have done to get there!

I liked the use of Peter Gabriel's song 'Mercy Street' in the soundtrack. It really suits the mood and helps nail down the 1980s setting.
