When Flora (Verna Harvey) and Miles (Christopher Ellis) parents die in an automobile accident in India, they are left in the care of their housekeeper, Miss Jessel (Stephanie Beacham) and her lover, Peter Quint (Marlon Brando), The Gardener. The children soon fall under the spell of Quint, A strange and charismatic man, they trust him completely and begin to see the world through his bizarre eyes. When Miss Jessel decides to leave the children are desperate to stop her. Using the twisted logic they have learned from Quint, they take the only action they understand...
