"Three Girls" is a harrowing three part dramatisation based on three young girls who were groomed, sexually abused and trafficked by British Pakistani men in Rochdale and of the failure of the authorities to do anything about it. Written by Nicole Taylor (The C Word) and directed by Philippa Lowthorpe (Call the Midwife), 'Three Girls' tells the story of three of the children who were victims in the 2012 grooming and sex trafficking case, which made national headlines when it was uncovered by investigative reporter for The Times, Andrew Norfolk. New to Rochdale, Holly is keen to make friends, but finds herself drawn into a frightening, adult world all too familiar to sexual health worker Sara. As her relationship with her family begins to disintegrate, Holly finds the courage to speak out about the abuse she is suffering. - Actors:

Superb acting makes it feel like a documentart - Three Girls review by ST
A very grim tale indeed, set in the north of England over the last ten years or so and told very even handedly but with great compassion. The early inertia by the police and the lack of action by the CPS beggar belief but we can see how it might have occurred. The three girls of the title were played with great skill and feeling by the young actresses - it was almost impossible to imagine that you were not watching a documentary, so life-like were their performances. Overall a powerful and moving portrayal of a very shabby set of incidents in recent history.
