I thought I'd watch a few episodes as I had some vague memories of Bugs from its original BBC broadcast. I rather enjoyed it: it's fun to watch which can be all that you want, sometimes. It's fairly well made and looks pretty good, with some nice slick music. In typical BBC fashion of the era though, Bugs over stretches itself budget-wise on occasion (like the original Dr Who used to do) and ends up looking a bit too silly: for example, episode 3 almost tries to emulate scenes from Die Hard 2 and Speed, with out-of-control aircraft and endangered passengers, which was not too well advised. As for the three leads, Jaye Griffiths is by far the most engaging and talented actor. Craig McLachlan is suitably cast for his role but, as for Jesse Birdsall, I just don't get how he became a well-known actor at all.
Worth watching for a bit of nostalgic, 'hi-tec', pre-smartphone era entertainment.
