Synopsis:
On the surface, the Bayer-Boatwrights of Portland, Ore., are the model of a progressive, multiracial family. Greg (Tim Robbins) and his wife, Audrey (Holly Hunter), have three adopted children from around the world and a biological daughter. However, deep cracks begin to appear in the domestic facade - threatening to upend their very way of life - when one son starts seeing things others cannot and develops a mystical connection with a Muslim psychiatrist who has demons of his own.

Shallow - Here and Now: Series 1 review by EA

Spoiler Alert

Tries hard but fails to get beneath the surface. Holly Hunter is particularly grating as she sashays her way through with little care for her children beyond the most cliched responses. Tim Robbins ' role is limited and to be honest he's wasted here. The series doesn't know if it wants to be serious or light-hearted and every time a serious issue could go deep the story backs off and plays it for laughs or goes for superficial gloss.
