A few bleached bones are all that remains of this elusive creature in Timothy Dalton's adopted state of California. In search of the reason for the nefarious reputation of these creatures, the James Bond star sets off on a quest that takes him to Alaska to meet the Nunamuit - an inland Eskimo tribe of wolf hunters. Next, to the forests of Minnesota where a team of researchers are studying specially collar tagged timber wolves - a success story in the making - the numbers having tripled since the sixties. Up close and personal with an anaesthetised wolf, Dalton is stirred but not shaken! Onto Montana, where the wolves are making a comeback, slowly but surely, from the Canadian wilderness to the North. Dalton's mission covers 10,000 miles, and takes him, finally, to the Arctic. Why are these creatures still so badly thought of? Dalton answers the questions for us.
