- Fernando, a solitary ornithologist, is looking for endangered black storks along a remote river in northern Portugal, when he is swept away by the rapids. Rescued by a couple of Chinese pilgrim girls on their way to Santiago de Compostela, he plunges into a dark, eerie forest, trying to get back on track. But as he encounters unexpected uncanny obstacles and people who put him to the test, Fernando is driven to extreme, transformative actions. Gradually he becomes a different man: - inspired, multifaceted, and finally enlightened.

Stick to birdwatching. - The Ornithologist review by TE
Worth a star for the occasional shots of magnificent northern Spanish scenery.
Beyond that however, lies a complete mess of a tale, full of unexplained turns and unconnected incidents. Apparently it is meant to be a re-telling of the story of a Catholic saint. This is a film which keeps on promising something but delivers one of the lamest and silliest endings possible.

Good at first - The Ornithologist review by KP
I agree with KW, in that the film is beautifully shot, slow but decent story line, and good acting. But towards the end it goes off, and I thought I'd lost the plot somewhere. But not bad.

Strange Mixture - The Ornithologist review by KW
A beguiling film covering the experiences of Fernando the ornithologist who gets so engrossed with his birds that he does not heed the warning sounds of the rapids and ends up going down them. He is rescued by two chinese ladies lost on a pilgrimage to Santiago De Compastella who have designs on him in a peculiar way and having escaped there clutches he meets a shepherd Jesus and things happen with as well! Then the film for me slightly loses its way as he wanders along the pilgrim trail? There is a compulsion when watching the film that draws you in, but the ending for me was its let down. Beautiful to look at and the shots of the birds are excellent.
