This film is a triptych of stories around a grand car 'The Yellow Rolls Royce' which is originally purchased by The Marquis of Frinton for Lady Frinton on the eve of Ascot races, after the Marquees is cuckolded the charm of the vehicle is lost on him and he returns the car. The next story concerns gangster Paolo Maltese and his moll following the series of romantic dalliances, involving Alan Delon and MacLaine the car ends up in Trieste with socialite Gerda Millett who uses it to ferry troops in company with Davich to the front.
Clever portmanteau film linked by the car of the title
- The Yellow Rolls-Royce review by MR
Without including spoilers, there are three separate stories here linked both by the car and by themes of love, loss and morality, yet treated with a light touch, some humour and some great scenery. An array of well known actors, some early in their careers, give assured performances. I can see us watching this again.
