Pride And Prejudice (2005)
The five Bennet sisters have all been raised by their mother with one purpose in life - finding a husband. However, the second eldest Lizzie can think of 100 reasons not to marry.
When Mrs Bennet hears the exciting news that a wealthy bachelor and his circle of sophisticated friends are to take up summer residence in a nearby mansion the Bennets are abuzz with the hope that potential suitors will be in full supply. Obligingly, the newcomer, Mr Charles Bingley, is immediately taken with the eldest Jane. However, when Lizzie meets up with the darkly handsome and snobbish Mr Darcy, what seems like a match made in heaven quickly becomes divided by pride and prejudice. Can they get past this and can Lizzie finally find a reason to marry?

Lovely film!
After seeing the BBC version I thought I would never enjoy another version of Pride and Prejudice but I was wrong. The characters are portrayed brilliantly and you feel like your on a emotional rollercoaster as you watch the relationship between Mr Darsy and Lizzy develop. I admit to even getting a bit tearful at the end. If only real love could be that romantic!

Actually a good period drama
Thought I would be bored, as everyone has seen at least three versions of this! But wasn't at all. Performances were excellent and I actually did fancy Darcy (FIRST TIME EVER!) Really got caught up in the plot. FAB

True to the Book
excellent film which has been kept true to the book. Keira Knightly makes a very good Elizabeth Bennet a romantic story of a middle class family trying to better them selves.

Different enough to the fantastic TV series to be worth a look
Turning a classic book into a movie lasting under 2 hours is a risky business, & of course, this film has to live up to the BBC series as well which was superb. Nonetheless, Joe Wright's film is a worthy version of the film, with enough difference to previous versions that it can stand on it's own. The Bennets & their local village dwellers are depicted in a very rustic way, which contrasts well with the wealthy visiting townsfolk - The Bingleys & Mr Darcy. The story continues apace, with most of the key bits in their rightful place. Keira Knightley is a fantastic Lizzie & gives a spirited performance to the role. You're bound to enjoy this film even if you have loved it before.
