Fishing with John is the bizarre and often hilarious cult TV documentary series directed by and starring actor and musician John Lurie. While on the surface, the series is staged as a traditional travel show, in keeping with Lurie's choice of guests it also has the tendency to veer into the weirdly surreal. A feature enhanced by the voice-over narration of Robb Webb, which is marked by his strange digressions and deadpan commentary. In each episode, Lurie takes a famous guest on a fishing expedition, however, since Lurie has virtually no knowledge of fishing, the interest is in the relationship between the two fishermen and their quirky conversation. As the various fishing trips proceed they become increasingly strange and even appear to transform into supernatural adventures, as they take on a metaphysical dimension. The series ran for 6 episodes, each featuring a different guest in an often exotic location, with each episode being enhanced by the music of John Lurie.
