Synopsis:
Based on the true story of the Sobibór extermination camp uprising during WWII, led by POW Soviet officer Alexander Pechersky (Konstantin Khabenskiy). 'Sobibor' was one of four concentration camps in Poland and prisoners who arrived there were doomed for death. With the greatest odds against him, Alexander Pechersky managed to do the impossible - in only three weeks he organized a daring revolt, which aided the mass escape of Sobibor's condemned prisoners. Some of the escapees were caught and shot, but the rest escaped with Pechersky and joined the resistance to fight the Nazis. The mass escape was such an embarrassment to the Nazis that Himmler ordered the camp to be raised to the ground.

Clerical error on paper sleeve - Escape from Sobibor review by JR

Spoiler Alert

Should’nt worry too many people but the paper sleeve has the cast listing from the 1987 Alan Arkin film of the same name and there is no way to tell CP this through their problem page. They are welcome to delete this “review” when they have corrected this

Superb 2018 Russian Holocaust Film with Christopher Lambert (DVD sleeve notes are wrong) - Escape from Sobibor review by PV

Spoiler Alert

As another reviewer has stated, the review notes state this is the 1987 film directed by Jack Gold with Rutger Hauer. This DVD is not that one! I have seen that film and this is so much better than that 1987 film.

This is one of the best WWII camp films I have seen, really original, heart-breaking, fascinating. Researching the true story of some names on Wiki or elsewhere is fascinating as they were real - though some characters are made up for the drama, I think, too.

OK so it is a bit o a mess in parts with the editing.

However, overall, this is a must-see.
