Synopsis:
In Aziz Ansari's directorial debut, 'Good Fortune', a well-meaning but rather inept angel named Gabriel (Keanu Reeves) observes a struggling gig worker, Arj (Aziz Ansari), who is barely making ends meet in Los Angeles, and intervenes to show him that money can't solve all his problems. Gabriel swaps Arps life with a wealthy venture capitalist's, Jeff (Seth Rogen) - but the plan backfires when Arj is convinced his newfound wealth has, in fact, solved all his problems. As Arj refuses to switch back, Jeff is left without his fortune, Gabriel loses his wings, and all three are forced to confront what it truly means to be human.

Keanu Steals the Laughs - Good Fortune review by griggs

Spoiler Alert
13/02/2026

I honestly didn’t expect Keanu Reeves to be the funniest person in a film led by comedians, but here we are. His Gabriel has this open, guileless vibe that makes even simple lines land, and I kept perking up whenever he drifted back into the story.

It’s not wall-to-wall laughs. It’s more like: a really good bit, a lull, then another really good bit. Aziz Ansari’s writing clearly enjoys giving Reeves and Seth Rogen the juiciest lines, and when they’re sparring it finally feels loose and alive.

What saves it from feeling too patchy is the warmth. Keke Palmer brings a kick of energy every time she shows up, and the needle drops are doing a lot of quiet heavy lifting, setting the tone when the pacing wobbles. By the end I was still smiling — not blown away, just comfortably amused.
