Synopsis:
Martin Clunes returns to the role of Dr Martin Ellingham, the grumpy GP whose truculent and tactless manner upsets the convivial community of Portwenn. The series follows the accidents, emergencies and comedy mishaps in the community while the good doctor continues to bumble through life in the village all the while trying to pursue his ill fated burgeoning romance with headmistress Louisa Glasson (Caroline Catz). But could a breakthrough in their turbulent relationship mean wedding bells for the couple? Martin is joined by a prestigious cast, which includes Stephanie Cole as his supportive Aunt Joan and Ian McNeice and Joe Absolom as father and son Bert and Al Large.
As well as series newcomer John Marquez (The Trial of Tony Blair) as Portwenn's new police constable Joe Penhale, the series also includes guest star turns by Denise Black, Louise Delamere, Lucy Robinson, Jeff Rawle, Thelma Barlow and Irene Sutcliffe.
