Rent Lenny (1974)

The poignant story of the late Lenny Bruce, a comedian who battled both censorship laws and the right to free speech. Dustin Hoffman reminds us of his versatility as an actor, and Valerie Perrine gives a great performance as Honey, Bruce's drug addict wife. While beautifully directed and acted the film is somewhat of a disappointment. Lenny Bruce was not only a very thought provoking social commentator and a champion of free speech, but he was actually very, very funny, and the film really fails to capture this.
