This acclaimed first feature from director Julie Bertuccelli is a charming tale of three generations of Georgian women; elderly matriarch Eka (Esther Gorintin), her long-suffering daughter Marina (Nino Kliomassouridze) and young student Ada (Dinara Droukarova). Living in the capital Tbilisi, the family rub along in their own way, falling out, making up and drawn together by a country routinely effected by power cuts and vater shortages. But Eka's son Otar is missing and his absence eats away at them all. Otar lives in France and sporadically sends news and money, but out of the blue Marina and Ada receive news that he's been killed in an accident. Worried how his doting and frail mother will take the news, the pair decide to undertake a deception, but their plan takes a knock when Eka decides they should all travel to Paris for a reunion with Otar.
