An unremarkable sequel - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 review by CP Customer

Spoiler Alert
19/01/2006

The original 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre was a horror classic for many reasons. The clever use of implied violence and psychological terror were far more shocking than actually showing the graphic acts would have been. For this follow up, Tobe Hooper spoils his original 'less is more' formula by going over the top with gore and parody. The problem is that that the gory special effects are just not believable and the humour is way over the top. On the positive side, a totally psychotic performance by Bill Moseley as the music loving, wig wearing 'Chop Top' is the perfect accomplice for 'Leatherface'. Overall, there are certainly worse horror films than this one, but compared to the 1974 original, 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2' is short on the fright factor and plays more for laughs than terror.
