Amelie Poulian has led a sheltered life – educated at home by over-protective parents, she retreats into a fantasy world of her own. When she finally leaves home and finds work as waitress in a Parisian café, life is pretty uneventful until a chain of extraordinary events leads her to the discovery of a thin box containing a schoolboy’s long forgotten mementos. It is then that Amelie discovers her true vocation in life – helping others find love and happiness – which she sets about in her own unique and magical way. When Amelie falls in love herself, she realises that making neat solutions is not as easy as it seems…

Amelie review by Beagleskin
An unepxected wonder

You really can't tell what Amelie is all about from just watching the trailer. It is no mere love story. It is a wise, funny and wonderful film about everything from people who hate it when their swimming costumes stick to them, to mysteriously travelling stone garden gnomes to little pleasures you forgot you loved. Possibly the best film I have ever seen (and I have seen a lot!). If you don't love it, you don't love life.

Amelie review by JD
Brilliantly bonkers

A gem. This has recently been appearing in must see and top 10 lists and absolutely deserves this recognition. It is light hearted, mad, but most importantly different. Outstanding and totally memorable.
