Will Smith explodes into the screen in this action-packed comedy as Hancock, a sarcastic, hard-living and misunderstood superhero who has fallen out of favour with the public. When Hancock grudgingly agrees to an extreme make over from idealistic publicist Ray Embrey, his life and reputation rise from the ashes and all seems right again- until he meets a woman with similar powers to his and the key to his secret past. A past that will have earth shattering consequences....

super chuckles, super time.

This is almost a film in two halfs. The first a out and out comedy showing off Mr Smiths undoubtably iconic talents. Lots of hillarious scenes and laugh out loud moments.
The second half of the film takes a more action based slant. Where our hero 'hancock' finally finds the villain of the piece.
Special effects are out of this world and the acting, by all the lead players is also on form.
This is a traditional, warm family film with a not so subtle moral at the end...........if we believe in ourselves and others, the world would be a better place. I sentiment, in this day and age, i think we can all learn from.

Hancock review by JD
Unusual idea

The plot is basic but different. It starts with a superhero who is uncouth, destructive and unpopular. You can guess how the plot goes from there and you would be right. Will Smith plays it well but could have spent his time better.

Superman with an attitude

Really enjoyed this movie. A superhero with an attitude but we all knew he would come good in the end. Good clean fun.

Not bad.

The premise of a grumpy, drunk, antagonistic super 'hero' is brilliantly conceived if only adequately realised here. This is a role that is well within Smith's abilities and as such it feels like a bit of a throwaway performance. This may be all that was required however in this nicely paced, humourous action film. It's light on gravitas but breezes effortlessly past, the biggest gripe being the Charlize Theron story thread which occupies the final act and feels almost like an afterthought. Despite the minor grumbles, it's quite good fun. The sort of film the mark of 3 out of 5 was made for.
