Based on the life of the famous artist Henri De Toulouse Lautrec, John Huston's epic costume drama Moulin Rouge received multiple Oscar nominations, including a nomination for best leading actor for Jose Ferrer's performance as Toulouse Lautrec. Henri De Toulouse Lautrec was the son of a Count, who failed to grow following a disastrous operation on his legs as a child. As an adult he left home to become an artist in Paris, where he found creative inspiration at the Moulin Rouge. However, the women of the Moulin Rouge prove to be more than just his passion but also the path towards his ruin.
