Rent Severance (2006)

Following a boom in military arms sales, the team at Palisade Defence are rewarded with a team-building weekend in the wilds of Eastern Europe. But what begins as a corporate jolly rapidly descends into a deadly nightmare as they are pitched into a terrifying fight for survival against a forgotten army of bloodthirsty maniacs armed with machetes, flamethrowers, machine guns and a thirst for revenge. If the team can survive the bear traps and treacherous pits long enough to show their guts rather than losing them, they may just learn that getting slaughtered with workmates isn't always a good idea.

Severance review by PV

superb horror corn

Realy good fun and well-written movie. Shame that the ego-maniac director had to push the )new) writer out of the way to claim equal writing credits. Scripts get re-written all the time - but usually the re-writers take NO CREDIT. Perhaps the director - who, like most directors seems very uncreative - will stop trying to put his name on others' work? As i was saying to my flying pig...

Tongue-in-cheek comedy horror

A tongue-in-cheek comedy horror film (is there such a thing as comedy horror?) that works very well. Plenty of action and suspense mixed with not a little gore - I liked it. The characters encapsulate many of the annoying traits that I've encountered among salesmen out on a corporate jolly - and they get their come-uppance at the hands of unnamed assailants. Even some of the more sympathetic characters meet unpleasant ends and one of the good things is that it's not always predictable - there are plenty of surprises and shocks. Very entertaining - recommended.

Grisly good

This is a very original approach to the slash 'em up type horror flick and works really well! The great thing is that it doesn't take itself too seriously and in fact has some quite funny moments (although it is NOT a comedy as some reviews suggest) and nor does it try to develop a detailed plot when clearly the aim is to mix entertainment with shock rather than tell a serious story. There are also some excellent acting performances throughout, enjoy.
