- Rickard and his painfully shy son and abrasive industrial music enthusiast, Eric, live in a run down apartment where Rickard pursues amateur pornography with friend Geko and seemingly adroit adult actress Tess. Drink flows, inhibitions crumble and behaviour grows more and more disturbing. Like some twisted, compact Marquis de Sade, bedlam erupts as social codes are abandoned entirely and pop psychology, cosmetic surgery, tabloid journalism, class politics, alienation and human emotions are put through the collective wringer of a vicious and technically astonishing visual and aural tour de force.

Absolute garbage - A Hole in My Heart review by CP Customer
Having seen and enjoyed director Lukas Moodysson's past films 'Lilya 4-Ever' and 'Together', it's hard to comprehend that 'A Hole In My Heart' is a film by the same writer/director. Whereas Moodysson's previous efforts have been films with a decent story, candidly told and full of heart, this film is nothing more that a crass, disgusting, self indulgent, pretentious mess. Quite possibly one of the worst films I have ever seen.

This film is a matter of perspective.
If you come at this film looking for something beautiful you will be shocked. This film is about just 4 charecters 3 of whom are doing a porno. The brilliance of this film is that you go from being sickened by the people to loving them to bits in a blink. If you've seen Lilya-4eva you should know that lucas doesnt shoot beautiful scenes, he draws beauty from the subtext.
In all honesty i was a bit put off by the clips from the main menu even, but if you watch through to the end you'll be able to appreciate what moodyson was aiming at. Showing beauty in guilty dirty creatures
