Synopsis:
It was a time when England was a nation on the cusp of change, an evolving landscape that lay between Victorian England and the First World War. 'The Edwardians' explores the lives of and events in the lives of many who helped define this era, the "Belle Epoque". Inventors, artists, writers, performers, soldiers, politicians - they would shape a nation in their own fields, in their own lifetime, in their own way.

1. Mr. Rolls and Mr. Royce
They were two conflicting personalities, one a committed engineer, the other a racing adventurer, who together created the finest automobile in history.
2. Horatio Bottomley
The tale of a rogue financier, publisher, politician and public orator who rose to great heights, then scandalised his way into prison and onto the music hall stage.
3. E. Nesbit
Examines the very adult life of this famous children's author and her "open" marriage - a social experiment that shocked the so-called civilised world.
4. Conan Doyle
Discover the true-life detective at the heart of Sherlock Holmes's creator, whose investigations would seek to liberate an innocent man unjustly accused.
5. Baden-Powell
Takes the hero of Mafeking and follows the path he took that led to the visionary creation of the Boy Scouts, an institution which redirected the course of generations of young lives.
6. The Reluctant Juggler
Goes behind the velvet curtain of the Music Hall as one performer must decide - in a night of frivolity and bawdiness - whether he will seek to improve his lot by joining a new concept - a union.
7. Daisy
Looks back at a time when a woman might take a lover to improve her husband's position in society, and the effect this had on the life and times of "Daisy", Countess of Warwick.
8. Lloyd George
Brings us to the end of an era as the rising Member of Parliament faces political and personal s challenges that will impact his life and change the nation.

Dramatic Dialogue in Edwardian Vignettes - The Edwardians review by CV

Spoiler Alert

These short films would make great stage drama as the scripts are compellingly written. The characters are chosen to portray a cross-section of Edwardian life and, are well cast. There are behind-closed-doors accounts of famous people, such as David Lloyd George, and the life of a relative nobody in the Music Hall theatre. I wondered why people like Emeline Pankhurst or Rudyard Kipling weren't included.
