The award-winning comedy series 'Detectorists' returns for a second series as we follow the lives of Andy (Mackenzie Crook) and Lance (Toby Jones), two friends who share a passion for metal detecting. Scouring the fields of the English countryside, they are burning for that one find which could change their lives forever. A year on from the last time we met them, Lance is still love-lorn after the departure of his ex-wife, but may be about to surprise everybody with a new and unexpected relationship. Andy and his wife Becky are now parents, but despite qualifying as an archaeologist Andy is still unemployed and their shared hopes for the future look further off than ever - but Becky has a dream... Meanwhile the Danebury Metal Detecting Club find themselves on a mission to track down a long-lost WW2 bomber on behalf of a young German man who suddenly arrives in their midst - followed closely by 'Simon and Garfunkel'. There may be new loves, new challenges and enemies old and new, but always there is the vision, always there is the dream of something that is waiting not too deep beneath the soil; something that will inspire the legendary Gold Dance.
Gentle humour, truly British, wonderful shote of nature, nice character build ups. Would love to see Series 3.

- Detectorists: Series 2 review by JM
We don’t watch much tv and only found out about this by a chance remark from a friend. Superb. Great script, lovely well written gentle comedy backed by excellent scenery well filmed. The acting and characters make this extremely watchable. We watched it twice to pick out the running gags. Watch series 1 first .
