Starts well and captures your imagination, but the rest of the film was too long and drawn out. It therefore ended up being a bit boring, which is suprising given the subject matter of suspected murder, kidnap and racial tension. Julianne Moore plays a former junkie, depressed and unhinged, but revitalised by motherhood brilliantly. Samuel L Jackson is good as the cop who knows 'his people' in the impoverished projects of New Jersey. Could do with more plot as it just felt a bit 'samey'.
I really looked forward to this film as I love samuel L Jackson but I'm afraid it was let down by Moore. I know her son was missing but she whined more than grieved and in the end I had no sympathy for her...in fact I was glad when the whole film was over.
