Richard Gere stars as Professor Parker Wilson, a distinguished scholar who discovers a lost Akita puppy on his way home from work. Despite initial objections from Wilson's wife, Cate, Hachi endears himself into the Wilson family and grows to be Parker's loyal companion. As their bond grows deeper, a beautiful relationship unfolds embodying the true spirit of family and loyalty while inspiring the hearts of an entire town.

A great best friend story

This is a true story about the relationship between a man and his best friend, his dog. Truly a remarkable and endearing story. With a good dose of funny, emotional, scary. Richard Gere is brilliant as ever and the dog that played Hatchi second to none. Even the hardest of people couldn't fail to be moved. I admit I sobbed.
