If official documentation didn't exist, we'd never believe a fantastic yarn and amazing recounting of real-life events like I Was Monty's Double. At the height of World War II an actor, ME Clifton-James, was seconded to impersonate General Montgomery. Trained by Major Harvey (John Mills) to imitate Montgomery to the last detail, Harvey then sends the actor on a tour of North Africa, the better to divert the German's attentions away from the real "Monty."
