- Outnumbered, outgunned, never out of courage - 'Danger Close' is an exhilarating, hard-hitting war epic based on the unbelievable true story of The Battle of Long Tan. Major Harry Smith (Travis Fimmel) and his company of 108 young and inexperienced Australian and New Zealand soldiers are fighting for their lives in the Battle of Long Tan in 1966. With 2,500 battle-hardened Viet Cong soldiers closing in, their ammunition running out and casualties mounting, each man searches for the strength to triumph over an uncertain future with honour, decency and courage.

Realistic war film, but a small story - Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan review by Martyn
Not a great drama, or a big story of turning point in history. In it's favour, it attempts to be very close to the facts - real characters with their real names, and the action as it really happened. In our time, it should have been possible to research and dramatise the other side of the battle too - the perspective of the Vietnamese. That would have been a much classier movie. Good to see the Aussies can make a war movie without blaming the Brits for everything.
