Drawn from the novel of the same name by Philippa Gregory, 'The White Princess' is a tale of power, family, love, and betrayal, charting one of the most tumultuous times in British history uniquely from the point of view of the women. The tempestuous marriage between Elizabeth of York (Jodie Comer) and King Henry VII (Jacob Collins-Levy) officially marks the conclusion of the War of the Roses, but the real battle for the throne is far from over.

One too many liberties? - The White Princess review by PB

Spoiler Alert

Quite a well made series but the plot strays so far from recorded history that it ends up becoming rather naff.

Good drama, not factual - The White Princess review by MC

Spoiler Alert

Lovely customs and scenery, good story line and acting. Sure it's true to the book (not read and won't now I know its make believe !) , but not historically factual. Does it matter ? It did make us look up the period. Was disappointed by the twisting of history......

Really enjoyed this - The White Princess review by Ken

Spoiler Alert

OK, so they might have stretched the history a bit but it was an enjoyable series, well made, lavish costumes and period settings and well acted. I especially enjoyed the fact that it was free of foul language and gratuitous nudity and sex - just one brief love scene in episode 6. Too often these days it's deemed necessary to assault the eyes and ears of the audience to get attention so it was refreshing to be able to enjoy a well produced period drama like this one. Just don't take it as a definitive statement of historical fact.
