Native American legend talks of the Windigo spirit, the Maneater. If consumed by this spirit, man becomes beast. By day, he will walk among his tribe as a human but when the hunger comes, he loses control to the monster within and shape-shifts into a hideous beast hunting down the weak and impure, ripping them apart. When a former FBI profiler, now small town sheriff, (Dean Cain) begins to profile a series of unexplained murders, he soon realizes they are not the work of bears and he must confront something much more sinister and dangerous if the townsfolk are to remain safe.
