Sam Franks is an emotionally troubled psychologist who is travelling home to bury his father in the small Australian town where he was raised. It is an emotional journey that forces him to confront the memories of a long-ago summer that ended in tragedy, an incident that continues to torment him in his adult life. During the journey, he encounters Ruby, a beautiful, mysterious young woman with a secret past. Is Ruby real? Or is she a ghost, a manifestation, that Sam has created to allow him to say goodbye to a heartbreaking passage in his life?
