I found this to be an enthralling film concerning a part of history that many of us no nothing about. After the seventeenth century you are inclined to think that the royal court behaved in a more civilized manor. This film shows us that the scheming over a young eighteen year old was as great as that over the young Elizabeth I. The story however is that of love and for Victoria independence. Good costumes, splendid acting and feel of the time.
This is a nice movie to watch when you have nothing more substantial to watch. I found the flashing about from one scene to another rather irritating.
I am afraid they needed to try just that much harder to make a truly wonderful movie.
Well done first half of Victoria's reign until husband Prince Albert of Saxe Coburg Gotha dies in Dec 1861. She had 9 children prior,
Which indicates true passion and strength. From the death of Albert on to 1901 when Victoria died at age 81 she wore mourning clothes.
Her mother Princess Victoria of Saxe Coburg Saalfield and Sir John Conroy kept plotting how poor Victoria could live her life until Albert came along in 1840.
I love costume films. Beautifully done.
However the subtitles are really quite
appalling and consistently wrong.
Who the heck wrote them??
Gosh almighty. So unutterably poor!
"Yours affectionately" becomes "You infection clear" !! What??
Beware for your deaf relatives!
