Gloria Davies (Lorraine De Selle) is writing a thesis and she believes, unlike most people, that cannibalism is merely a myth which has been invented by whites. In order to test her theories she sets out for the jungle of the Amazon River, with her brother Rudy (Danilo Mattei) and friend Pat (Zora Kerova). They go as far as Panaguaya in a Range Rover, and then proceed on foot. What they then experience is too terrifying to imagine but you can be sure is enough to chill the spine!
A member of the Italian cannibal subgenre popularized in the 1970s and '80s,"Cannibal Ferox" is particularly rough from the off, and will not be to every taste,it is meant to shock ,disturb, and to make the audience quiver, with an emphasis on gore and suffering giving. The film's US distributor claimed it was "the most violent film ever made",sensationalist advertising of this film? Probably! Accept the film for what it is 'plenty of blood and guts'

More Butchering By The Censors Than Actually Happens On Screen
- Cannibal Ferox review by Spoons
I'm sort of having a mid life video nasties crisis at the moment, re watching all those so called films that were so depraved that they would corrupt us all and end up being banned. Actually most of them were laughable and never warranted the video nasty tag. Is Cannibal Ferox as bad as I remember it..... well probably, but it has to be said that the intended shock impact of the film is completely diminished by the heavy censor cuts by our beloved BBFC.
