Synopsis:
Behind every great love is a great story. As teenagers, Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling) begin a whirlwind courtship that soon blossoms into tender intimacy. The young couple is quickly separated by Allie's upper-class parents who insist that Noah isn't right for her. Several years pass, and, when they meet again, their passion is rekindled, forcing Allie to choose between her soulmate and class order. This beautiful tale has a particularly special meaning to an older gentleman (James Garner) who regularly reads the timeless love story to his aging companion (Gena Rowlands).
Based on the best-selling novel by Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook is at once heartwarming and heartbreaking and will capture you in its sweeping and emotional force.

I cried my eyes out! - The Notebook review by CP Customer

Spoiler Alert
31/07/2006

This is possibly the saddest and most heart-warming film I have ever seen. I was initially put off by the over-the-top DVD packaging which makes the film look like a slushy period drama but now I wish I'd seen this ages ago. Ryan Gosling's performance is great as the love-struck Noah, Rachel McAdams is beautiful (but then, isn't she in all her films?!) and James Garner and Gene Rowlands have fantastic depth for aging characters that are usually ignored or stereotyped in Hollywood. The only criticism some viewers may have with this is it's predictability. Yes, you can guess what happens, but the story is so well-told and so moving that I really didn't care! Plus any film that can make me cry all the way through gets two thumbs up from me! Gorgeous.

What a great love story , very well made and the acting is great too. Very good love story but at the same time very sad. I didn't think the ending was that predictable . Really worth watching if you haven't seen it.
