This Film Is Terrible
- The Retirement Plan review by SS
One of the worst films I have ever watched,
The script is truly awful and every performance is utterly excreable ,Nicolas Cage phones in this performance from Mars
The Director clueless ,hopefully will never be given the opportunity to make another Film
Simply dreadful

By-numbers thriller, all very cartoon character, but watchable
- The Retirement Plan review by PV
This is so-so - a very by the book, by-numbers crime thriller, with unlikely plot, unrealistic almost-superhero Cage taking on the mob, cartoon characters galore.
BUT it is watchable. So long as you go along for the ride and do not expect art, it is fine as a cartoon character goodie versus baddie thriller - though I must admit I laughed at times at the absurdity of some scenes.
Watch SEXY BEAST or BREAKING BAD for real quality; watch this to pass the time.
Watch DREAM SCENARIO with Cage - he is great in that.

Could have been better.
- The Retirement Plan review by EB
What a disappointment, the story-line is good but there was a lot of over-acting and a typical hapless female trope. It could have been a good thriller or a good comedy. I'm surprised Nicholas Cage took part in it and his acting was poor.
If you are undecided whether to watch it or not, don't waste your time.

Light-hearted romp
- The Retirement Plan review by AB
Billed as a 'thriller', there wasn't much of that on show here but as a variation of the theme of 'father with a past having to deal with a family situation", with grandfather the relative in point, this is more a light-hearted revenge film. A high death count, a lot of swearing and with some amusing, farce-like situations (Bobo on the balcony looking for the grandfather and granddaughter) that brought a smile to my face.... but [spoiler alert] why kill Bobo? He helped give the film a bit of gravitas, showing off his knowledge of Othello and I would have liked him to have survived. Not as bad as people are reviewing here. It's a film, not a comment on how to make a film that certain people do not like.
