One of the most visually dazzling, strikingly original and stunningly realised films about war ever made, this landmark in animation is an extraordinary, ingenious work of devastating intensity.
Based on the true story of director Ari Folman, an Israeli 1982 Lebanon War in which he fought, the film charts his deep into the mystery, fragments of memory creep up in surreal images as the truth of what happened behind to unravel.

Fantastic cinematography

Brilliant piece of directing, very arresting and honest. The use of an animation style overlaid onto the film is not "cartoonesque" but adds punch and clarity to the story as it unfolds.
Purposeful, I would recommend this to anyone interested in the psyche and thoughts of the martial man.

Waltz with Bashir review by Jawbreaker
Refreshing animation

A documentary about a massacre during the Lebbon war, however using animation for the majority of proceedings. Even at 90mins I felt this was a touch too long, however come the closing moments the silence in the cinema was extremely powerful. Full of unforgettable imagery, great use of music and first hand accounts, it managed to engage viewers who would normally be put off by documentaries, animated movies or just foreign films in general.
Cast aside your worries and check out this hebrew film if you can. Up there with Wall-E as one of my favs of 2008.
