Dr. Kate Forster has finally found romance. Trouble is, it's a long-distance relationship. She's in downtown Chicago. He's in a remote lakeside suburb. And there's more: She's in 2006. He's in 2004. Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock team for the first time since Speed for this heart-lifting story of love that transcends time. It begins when Kate moves out of her visually stunning lake house and leaves a note for the next tenant, architect Alex Wyler. They begin a correspondence and soon come to realise they are meant for each other ... and that, somehow, they live two years apart. Can they ever meet? What would happen if they tried?

Sweet, gentle romance

Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves, Salt and Pepper, Bread and Butter, etc! These 2 are a winning combination, as she always seems to bring out the best in his otherwise somewhat hammy performances. This is a 'nice' film. Nothing spectacular, but rather sweet and touching. Ideal for a romantic evening in.

Sweet, Romantic & Fuzzy!

Sandra Bullock & Keanu Reeves have yet again managed to gel together perfectly in The Lake House.
Plently of feel-good romance which leaves you with a warm, fuzzy feeling at the end!
Could be good for a romantic night in with your other half if he/she doesn't mind romances...but to be honest, I am glad I watched it alone as my husband is definitely not the romantic movie type!

Fantasy or sci-fi?

It seems this film was more or less shot as an excuse to bring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock back together on the screen. The story is very unlikely, but maybe it's an idea to watch the original Korean film whereupon it's based.

Unbelievable

For me the problem with this film was that the time difference became progressively more confusing and illogical the longer the film went on, right up to the totally impossible conclusion. Apart from this the filming, romance, music and acting were reasonable (particularly if you are a fan of architecture) although the editing and acting could have been better. However, I found that the in your face implausibility of the film made it impossible to enjoy. However, if you can suspend your critical faculties, you may find this a pleasant and unusual romance.

Good Sunday afternoon viewing... nice predictable story that leaves a sickly sweet taste in your mouth.

A bit more of a story to it than your average romance. Not too sickly! Keanu and Sandra are both good and I'm not usually a big fan of Keanu's! Glad i watched it!
