Between Strangers is the touching heartfelt tale of three women from Toronto, each with their own unique artistic talent and each facing their own personal crisis. Olivia is tired of her husband unsupportive of her gift as an artist, but could an eccentric French gardener provide the reassurance she desires? Photographer Natalia is tormented by a picture she has taken of an orphaned Angolan child, it's earned her a prestigious magazine cover but at what cost? Catherine a famous cellist has abandoned her husband and daughter, to seek revenge on the person responsible for her mothers' death, her father. Rather grim - Between Strangers review by LA
Strangely brutal and lurid, not 'touching and heartfelt' at all...three women trapped by men, and unable to express their art or themselves. And the art itself when shown was equally violent and unpleasant.

A feminist film - Between Strangers review by CSF
The film topic has vast potential. The actors are nearly all stars. The director has a great name. You expect an exciting and passionate film. But. The story is not developping clearly, the action is confusing. The actors are under used and the director is a 'debutant'. You expect an exciting and passionate film but It is a film that was very nearly successfully made. At least the end is soothing. I would advise to watch Ettore Scola's "Une Journee Particulière" with Sophia Loren (divine) and Mastroaini (divine), a feminist and LGBT film of 1977! The film is far more poignant than Between Strangers. STill, it is worth watching.
