Synopsis:
A group of young amateur gangsters attempt to gain control of the drug trade in Darndale, chasing the glorified lifestyle of money, power and sex. Cardboard Gangsters follows the story of the Irish gang, led by Jay Connolly (John Connors), as they sell drugs for a living. In a bid to make more money, gain power and enter the big leagues of the drug trade they decide to take on the local crime lord. Violence quickly escalates as it's revealed not everyone in Darndale is willing to let these amateur gangsters achieve the notoriety they crave without a fight.

Warning - no subtitles on this movie. So unless you are fluent in fast rambled heavy Irish dialect you will understand very little of the spoken word. What a shame.

This looks like an extended student movie short. Violence of pretty much every kind is queasily relished.

Shouty young men with awful haircuts make the mistake of taking on fighty older men with awful teeth. Yawn.

The main problem, however, is that there is not one single character who is in any way likeable or sympathetic. I suspect that we are meant to empathise a little with the central character, a pudgy-faced thug who is actually the worst of the lot.
